Using Infrared Lamps For Therapy

Infrared lamps are basically devices which emit infrared radiation. They are used for multiple purposes, usually for heating or communication. One very common usage is in the remote control devices and optical fibers. These lamps are also used commonly in night vision devices or the chemical analysis of some gases, as well as liquids.

It works by transmitting invisible infrared light waves into your body. It feels like a gentle heat, but it is known to be able to penetrate into your tissues, thus improving the blood circulation, hydration and oxygenation of the area you work on.

The bulbs that work on them are usually big and red incandescent ones of 250 Watts. They can also emit lights of different color, such as red, orange or yellow. There are some types of lamps that have clear or halogen bulbs, but they should not be used for pain relief or healing. Note that the color of the bulb could vary from yellow to red. You can also purchase the bulb and the socket separately or get a ready-made one. Make sure you handle them with care.

These lamps can also be used at home to treat or manage some affections, such as pain relief and anti-aging and rejuvenation treatments for skin. It can also help with other skin problems like acne, burns, rashes, infections, etc. It is also easy to set up and the costs are minimal, and you can benefit from it greatly.

To aid with pain relief you need to put your lamp close to your bed or your chair and sit next to it, but at around 18-24 inch distance. Place the heat towards the side of your body, not above you. Make sure you use eye protection, and for this you can refer to goggles or special glasses that block infrared light. Heat up the area that pains you and keep it as much as you can tolerate, but move just a bit every few minutes. Use it for no more than 3 sessions per day for 15-20 minutes. If you have headaches or pains in the head area, do not exceed 10 minutes per session.

If you need to use it for skin anti-aging, also place it close to a bed or chair that you can use. Stay at around 12 to 22 inch from it and use the lamp for each area for no more than 6 minutes. Repeat the treatment every 2 or 3 days. It is important to leave the skin heal and not use it daily. Also, remember to protect your eyes.

Any other skin issues will be treated the same as above. One of the benefits of using this lamp is that it also kills antibiotic-resistant infections, which will speed up the healing process.

When thinking of results, we all want something fast. For pain relief, you will notice the difference in a matter of minutes, but for skin improvement it will take a bit more time. For the skin to look healthier it will require 1 or 2 weeks. The fine line will start to vanish and the skin will get smoother in 2 to 6 weeks. The major differences, however, will be noticed in 4 months.
