Approximately 132 million children worldwide have been registered to be orphans by UNICEF. A child who has lost one or the two parents is referred to as an orphan. There are various ways people can use to help Mexican orphans be able to live a normal life. Some of these children have been left out of the statistics especially those living in the streets.
There are some leading causes of children being orphaned from diseases, war and abandonment to accidents. Other kids like those found on the streets have been neglected by their family members and others have been abused. When these kids lack someone to take care of them they end up in the streets as beggars while others are taken to orphanages.
It is heartbreaking to see a child left out in the street with no one to give them their basic needs. Those kids who survive street life survive by turning into criminals or become drug addicts. In some cases those who had been taken in by a family member do run away after being made laborers. Others would prefer to join a terror group as long as they can be fed and clothed.
It does not matter which religion you belong to. If you are in a position to help make a difference in the lives of these kids do it. We all need basic needs to survive like food and shelter. These being critical needs a kid will go to any extent to get food and if by stealing they can satisfy their hunger, they will do it again and again.
These kids need to be guided and mentored after you have given them food and shelter. Get to know their stories help you to learn how you will handle them. Most of them have been hurt and their egos bruised. Having a conversation makes them feel free and comfortable to let you know in case they have another underlying issue.
If you are helping children in an orphanage you need to be patient with these kids. Most of them are seeking the attention they lacked from their parents and could be very stubborn. You will need to have enough energy so that you can participate in the activities of these kids. Encourage them whenever possible it helps in building their confidence back.
We do not provide a full solution to them by offering them foster homes. Some of these homes are not taken care of. In other countries especially in developing world these care centers are not there due to lack of resources. On the other hand adoption too does not solve the situation. A kid might never get to live with that loving family they desire due to some legal issues.
