The life of a retired soldier is way harder than the life of any other person. This is because the lives of these soldiers turn out to be worse than they expected when they joined the military. Alas, many people are inclined to ignore the fact that vets need help for them to be able to have happy lives. It is crucial to note that the awful things that they encountered do not disappear when they come back home, therefore; the society should support homless veterans.

First, soldiers go through hell, and sometimes they suffer trauma. This is because of the terrifying things they have seen that they cannot get them out of their memories. When a soldier starts living on the streets after living the army, it is not only terrible but also humiliating t them. This is because they suffer both physically and emotionally and it becomes even worse when they find realize that no one is ready to help them out of what they are going through.

They are heroes: since no one is forced to join the military, it is important to note that these people joined the military with the intention of defending their country. In fact, they sacrifice their lives for the well-being of every citizen, and it is insane to ignore them when they become desperate in the future. They need the best of services because they are braver than many who opt to hang around and indulge in drugs and other criminal activities.

To reduce crime rate: you need to know that a soldier can adapt to any situation and it even more so when they are trying to survive. When an ex-soldier becomes desperate, he or she might opt to engage in theft and robbery to make ends meet. There is nothing worse than a trained soldier becoming criminal since it will be too hard to deal with him or her. There have been cases where retired soldiers ended up in jails.

Despite the fact that a desperate soldier might turn to a criminal, you need to know that soldiers do all they can to avoid getting into trouble with civilians. This is because they are trained to be disciplined, and they are known that they should use their skills to do constructive works. People, therefore, should not find it hard to accept them and live well with them when they are frustrated.

Also, soldiers have faced horrific moments that affect their thinking. Some also, have physical injuries that limit the things they can do. They, therefore, find it hard to look for jobs especially involve movements. Also, some suffer depression and therefore, it is important to care for them. However, they should not be denied jobs when they apply since not all of them are not able to work.

They deserve to be supported: vets worked for the government, and they used to go for wars whenever the government sent them. The government, therefore, needs to make sure that every vet receives the pension and other retiree benefits that they deserve. Citizens also, need to lend a hand to make sure that vets have decent lives.

Finally, it is clear that every citizen has a duty to help these vets with not only material benefits but also support them recover from mental difficulties that some of them suffer. It is always good to be involved in any activity that results to support of veterans.
