So you have an art project assignment due next Wednesday. But unsure how to go about it the teacher only gave you cryptic instructions. So you are stuck with no ideas and running out of time.

However one unique way of doing art is using aluminium foil and embossing a character on it. Understanding this art takes a minimal amount of time, but if you want to dive into the process and understand the tools then it is necessary for you to know the benefits of choosing this path. Many foil embossing dies can be found in the stationery section.

Because this is easier to do and most materials can be bought from any school supply and craft store. There are just a few things you need to start making masterpieces such as the die, foil, and medium. The difference between stamping and embossing is simple, embossing means printing or pressing images.

But it does not have to raise or lower the image around the surface. Since this is a delicate art most mediums need to have an even smooth surface for the embossing to come out successfully. This trade only uses two important tools.

If you buy it as a teacher then finding the cheapest one available should be important. There are many foils you can choose from but the best kinds are found in the art stores, or printing stores that supply event cards for all occasions. Because they have a better selection of materials than a general art store.

The tools in poking out the images on it does not need to be sharp to the point it will tear. But should be pointy enough to form a depression. Knowing the purpose of each tool is an important aspect of efficiently making your project.

Just like the stamp there is a metal plate that you used to print out the image. The metal plate has an image that is reversed so that when pressed on it the right image will come out. Buying one die is expensive but it can be used for the long term.

Metal die is heated first and once it achieves the right temperature it is then pressed on the foil and medium. The heat starts the foil to release itself from the mylar and latches on the medium. Not enough time and heat could ruin the project so generously allow these two aspects to do their job, so that you will have a cleaner and sharper outcome.

The science behind this art form is heat. Heat is necessary when transferring the foil above the surface of the element, and you want it to stick very well so it will not peel off once it is done. The foil is positioned between the medium and the die. Once you apply pressure on the die after it has been heated for sometime. The foil begins to peel away from the mylar then fuses itself with the surface of the card. Now that you know a little more about the art of foil embossing then you surely will get an A plus for your art fair project.
